Weddings in Scotland

Lucy & Gordon | Kirknewton House Stables |

With the sun shining like it did for Kucy & Gordons big day, Kirknewton stables really could have been situated anywhere in the world, it had such a continental feel to it, like a  relaxed French wine festival within the grounds of a chateau sort of thing!

My first port of call was to hang out with Lucy and her friends and family as they all got ready in Trini and Kev's wonderful house on the outskirts of Edinburgh. I actually loved that house!

When my work was done there it was time to head off to the venue, Kirknewton House Stables I've been there several times with my other job as a DJ so knew the layout to some extent, so O.K. I didn't really, as this time I got to recce the gardens and house within the estate and good golly miss Molly they are breathtaking. What a place for a wedding! All seated in the glorious sunshine with Gordon and Lucy to be wed under the grove of trees on the stunning lawns. Family and friends were playing frisbee, Croquet, football and sat on the lawn with ice cold drinks from the outdoor bar area #winning

When Lucy arrived with the bridesmaids all looking stunning, she was to walk down the aisle herself and wasn't to be given away, as in her eyes, it was something she as a woman in her own right 'wanted' to do! (I hope I've 'nearly' got that right Lucy!) It was a wonderful sight, Lucy grinning ear to ear as she proudly walked down the aisle toward Gordon.

David the Humanist who did a spectacular job marrying the guys, top man with a brilliant sense of humour!

Anyway I'm waffling so here's some pictures that can describe much better than I what kind of day it was :)

John & Sharon | Pre-Wedding Shoot

Sharon booked me as her DJ and in her own words had followed my Facebook page for a long time! Months after booking me as her DJ she found out I was also a photographer and enquired to see if I'd do both! As it was one of my regular venues, who actually recommend me as their DJ for weddings I agreed, I must be mad! haha! Having met John & Sharon now I'm actually really looking forward to the challenge but not so much the following day!

Walked, talked, laughed and took some pictures, top couple and Saturday is going to be a good one!

Jemma & Stephen | The Gallagher's | Ross Priory, Alexandria

Jemma and Stephen who work and live in Bristol found me via the power of Google I do believe! We had an ace couple shoot, I actually really enjoy the couple shoots as there's no better way to get over the 'awkward' that's inevitable when we first meet up and then to grab some shots to document the 'before we were even married' thing!

Jemma and Stephen had chosen the beautiful Ross Priory as the place where they were to be wed, having worked there on numerous occasions as a DJ it was one venue I'd really wanted to document a wedding at so I was stoked to get the opportunity.

It was a grey and moody start to the day but I always feel Scotland can be even more majestic in these conditions, while I realise most brides wish for sunshine and warm weather it definitely doesn't always make for the best photos! With Jemma being English and Stephen Scottish it was a great laugh watching the English lads familiarise themselves with proper Scottish attire, great they embraced it and indeed pulled it off very well. Well played lads! lol

An all round superb day, surrounded by awesome people. A special mention to Claire the humanist too who really adds a very special ingredient to the overall feel of a ceremony, what that ingredient is, I do not know, but I somehow think all her couples are very happy they chose her to marry them, good arrows Claire :) And Strange Bru the live band, class!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Gallagher, I hope it was cold and rainy in Bali, you lucky sods! :)

Helen-Anne & David | The Buchans | St Andrews Cathedral, Glasgow + The Glasgow Trades Hall

I first spoke to Helen-Anne's brother I do believe and then later to her at The Oran Mor Wedding Fayre back in October of last year! Had a chat with Helen-Anne and it was pretty obvious herself and David knew exactly what they wanted! A city urban feel wedding which kicked off in one of Glasgow's most spectacular cathedrals St. Andrews and then on to the Trades Hall of Glasgow

".......we knew we wanted Glasgow city centre to be the place to tie the knot as this is the city were we met, fell in love and will live."

An awesome couple, blessed and surrounded by amazing friends and family. Here are some captures from their day, but watch this space for something a little bit special during the summer when I once again meet up with The Buchans! :)
